Why EGIS?

El Gouna International School is accredited by the Ministry of Education and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East – BSME. EGIS is set up to provide the highest academic standards, to encourage our children to become independent thinkers and learners, and to develop an understanding of different views.  We aim to discover and exploit the full potential of each pupil, both in academic and co-curricular contexts.

EGIS accepts children from three and a half years of age into Foundation Stage 1 in the International British Section and we offer a comprehensive British education through to International GCSEs (Y10-11) and AS Level (Y12), with an option to complete A Levels in Year 13 if required.

Transferring students from other school curriculums (including from National Language School curriculum, French or German curriculum), are accepted up to Year 9, unless the student is coming from another British school and is already taking GCSEs. We also provide Arabic as a Foreign Language to foreign students and this can be taken as one of the IGCSE subjects in Year 10 or 11. English is taught either as First Language or Second Language by proficient British-qualified teachers who come mostly from the UK.

Our IGCSE results have been very strong in the past 2 years with students receiving top awards from both Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel Exam Boards: Top in the World in German (CAIE). Top in Africa in Physics and High Achievement in Arabic (Edexcel) just before the pandemic hit in March 2020.

In the National Language School Section, the entry age is also 3.5 years, calculated from the 1st of October of the same academic year. We cater to students from KG1-2, Primary 1-6, Preparatory 1-3 and then Secondary 1-3 culminating with a “Thannawiya Amma” Egyptian National certificate after 12 years of compulsory schooling. In the past 3 years, the school has been continually expanding, especially in the lower years with two classes per year level up to Primary 3.

The majority of our students in the National Language School are Egyptians; and the Arabic, Religion and Social Studies programme that we offer throughout the school is certified by the Ministry of Education in Egypt and meet the requirements throughout all phases of National education from Primary, Preparatory and Secondary up to “Thanawiya Amma” and fulfill all curriculum requirements for entry into Egyptian universities.

We also accept foreign students into our Language School Section and they may decide to transfer at any time to the International British Section before/or at the end of 3rd Preparatory.  We have also had students who qualified to go to StudienKolleg in preparation for universities in Germany after getting the DSD German Language Certificate.

The two sections of El Gouna International School thrive under one umbrella. Both sections join together regularly for extra-curricular activities and major events and both have the opportunity to study the German DSD programme.

Our Core Values

El Gouna International School seeks to operate within a unified and caring community unique only to EL GOUNA. We value Excellence, Loyalty in addition to Grit, Optimism, Unity, Nurturing and Achievement (acronym spells out: EL GOUNA). Our Values are the principles through which we exist, they reflect our sense of right and wrong. They help us grow and develop. They help us create the future we want. We use our Values to fulfill our Mission to reach our Vision.

To constantly strive for excellence, instead of seeking perfection; we do this by having the drive to achieve success in any undertaking.

To promote true loyalty and commit to protect our school and each other, by always speaking positively and believing that the trust that people, including parents, put in us, is at the heart of our long lasting relationships, where we support and value each member of our school community.

To develop a strength of character by having perseverance and passion to succeed no matter what the odds may be.

To be positive and receptive to change, for growth comes only with change and to have a willingness to listen to other’s views in a proactive manner.

To celebrate our differences whilst also learning from them, appreciating outer diversity but having unity at the heart, and within that unity, a greater understanding of the importance of confidentiality and respect for one’s privacy.

To engender kindness, care, encouragement and friendship to others; giving a helping hand to those who are less fortunate and more importantly, to preserve/protect our natural world.

To achieve intellectual independence and excellence and take risks through inquiry, collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
